Scientific Writing

These papers were designed to allow me to develop skills in writing simple and clear prose about scientific research for general audiences. I selected any topic I was interested in, and conducted research online and through interviews with people from all over the world. I learned that whether working on a news article, press release, scientific journal abstract, personal letter, tweet, video script, e-mail, or a job application, it is important to write clearly and accurately with vitality and style. â€‹I also was able to refine my interpersonal communication through talking to scientists in person, on video chat, and on the phone.

Naturau Coffee​ Campaign
​

A coffee company was introducing a new brand of coffee beans to Wisconsin, but they didn't know who they wanted to target or how they wanted to market their product. I worked to develop a complete analysis of the coffee market and create their target and secondary markets through extensive research. I selected a pricing strategy for the product and a budget for the year long campaign. I came up with a tagline and used a mix of print advertising, social media, radio, and promotions to market the new beans. Lastly, I used a variety of tools to measure the success of the campaign.

BarU Advertising Campaign

In this semester long project I was able to utilize my entrepreneurship skills and advertising skills to create a company and a full ad campaign. I created an app that bars in college towns use to let connect with patrons. With a national budget of $3 million, I selected my target audience and target markets, and rolled out my app to all fourteen Big Ten schools. I purchased Pandora advertising spots, local magazine spots, utilized social media, and budgeted for tabling events. Lastly I created a way to effectively measure the success of my campaign through Google Analytics and social media metrics.

Rake For Your Lake" Campaign
​

In this semester long project I worked with the local city government to create a campaign for current residents. With a small budget I was tasked with changing the attitudes and behaviors of over 8,000 residents. After talking to residents about the current situation, I created a unique brand identity using slogans, logos, and videos. I also worked with different branches of the government to meet all the needs of the residents and solve the current problems they had. Lastly I created a way to effectively measure the success of my campaign through Google Analytics, social media metrics, and following up with residents.
